Two held for looting bank; Rs 43 lakh recovered

Nashik, Jan 12 (PTI) Two youths have been arrested and Rs 43 lakh have been recovered from them on Nashik-Pune state highway, which they had allegedly looted from a bank in Karnataka, police said. The duo Indra Kumar Chavan (22) and Sunil Mahale (25) was arrested yesterday at village Nandurshingote near here, police said. They were travelling on a motorcyle which did not have a number plate, police said adding that their bike dashed a pedestrian and the bag filled with cash fell on the road. The villagers then chased the duo and handed them over to police. According to police, Indra Kumar worked in Gulbarga-based Renuka Mata Co-operative bank as a cashier till last month and looted the money from the bank with the help of the bank watchman Sunil Mahale on January 7.
