ACC merges Encore Cements with itself

Leading cement maker ACC today said it has merged the Vishakapatnam-based Encore Cements & Additives with itself and has also renamed it as Vizag Cement Works.

Vizag Cement Works will be the 18th manufacturing plant for ACC, the city-based cements major said in a statement. Encore has a slag grinding unit in the port city.

Since January 2010, when ACC acquired 100 percent stake in Encore Cements, it has remained a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. The acquisition has helped ACC build its presence in Andhra Pradesh and in the coastal areas of Odisha,the statement said.

Vizag Cement now manufactures Portland slag cement and coastal+cement, a superior variety of environment-friendly Portland cement which can withstand the corrosive impact on concrete in coastal areas.
