Ghaz/Muzaffarnagar, Dec 14 (PTI) Lawyers of western Uttar Pradesh today blocked the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway at the Ghaziabad Hindon Bridge in support of their demand to set up a bench of Allahabad High Court in this part of the state. Traffic jams stretching over kilometres were witnessed on the highway and judicial work in more than 10 districts came to a standstill due to the strike, spokesman of the High Court Action Committee Rajeshverdutt Tyagi said. Lawyers of western districts of the state have long been demanding for the setting up of a bench of the high court here for the convenience of litigants. Police had made elaborate arrangements in the wake of the protest for the free flow of traffic in the region. "We had made arrangements for the smooth flow of the traffic by diverting them to alternate routes. We had also called up security forces from six districts to avoid any untoward incident," said SSP Prashant Kumar. PTI Corr SRS IRH MNS
